This review is from: The British Brides Collection: 9 Romances from the Home of Austen and Dickens (Kindle Edition)
A compendium of nine sweet, wholesome romances from a collection of Christian authors, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted by the quality of the stories. These seem to be `long’ short stories or `short’ novellas and span a period of British Isles history from the 1300’s to the present.
Three of the stories are a loose trilogy concerning the Scottish highland castle Kennerith at widely dated times in history which I found especially entertaining with each one liberally sprinkling historical authenticity and the dialogues featuring the unique highland accent.
One of the stories, Apple of His Eye by Gayle Gaymer Martin, is based on her family’s history and I loved the Cinderella-like atmosphere as two lovers from opposite ends of the social spectrum strike up an unforgettable romance.
For me, this anthology was a “best bang for the buck.” It seemed there was a LOT of entertainment value packed into this book. Everyone loves a happy ending and there are nine of them to appreciate.
